General conditions
In order to encourage the Serbian musical creativity of young and future
composers and to create new opportunities for the performance and
presentation of original works of artistic national music, both in the country
and abroad, the Organizing Committee has decided that from 2022 they will organize a competition in the discipline - COMPOSITION BY A SERBIAN AUTHOR
All regular and part-time students of music schools and students of music
faculties and academies of the Republic of Serbia have the right to participate,
as well as students of Serbian nationality or with a temporary or permanent
residence abroad, regardless of their citizenship.
ARTICLE 1
Contest participants are divided into categories according to age:
I category: 14 years and younger (until the day they turn 15)
II category: 19 years and younger (until the day they turn 20)
III category: 24 years and younger (until the day they turn 25)
IV category: 29 years and younger (until the day they turn 30). Candidates in
this category must have completed Bachelor academic studies - Study program Composition.
ARTICLE 2
Each competitor can register a maximum of three compositions. Compositions
must be written for different instruments.
ARTICLE 3
Only musical compositions will be accepted for:
- piano solo
Instrumental duo:
- flute and piano
- clarinet and piano
- trumpet and piano
Participants are free to write:
1. Compositions intended for students of the first cycle of primary music
School. The compositions should be composed in accordance with the contents and outcomes for the subjects piano, flute, clarinet and trumpet in the first cycle of primary music education.
*The form is free, and the duration of the composition must be up to 3
minutes.
2. Compositions intended for students of the second cycle of primary music
School. The compositions should be composed in accordance with the contents and outcomes for the subjects piano, flute, clarinet and trumpet in the second
cycle of primary music education.
*The form is free, and the duration of the composition must be up to 5
minutes.
3. Compositions intended for high music school students. The compositions should be composed in accordance with the contents and outcomes for the piano, flute, clarinet and trumpet subjects of high music school education.
*The form is free, and the duration of the composition must be up to 7
minutes.
ARTICLE 4
Entries must be original - only works that have not won a prize in any national
or international competition will be accepted.
ARTICLE 5
The music sheet must bear the name and surname of the composer. It should be delivered in PDF format and preferably in audio format or a MIDI file.
The competition material is submitted electronically with the application form. The contestant is obliged to indicate for which cycle of schooling (by choosing from the three existing ones) he wrote each composition.
ARTICLE 6
Participants's applications are submitted from 1st of April 2024, to 1st of May 2024.
The application form contains:
Name and surname of the competitor
Citizenship
Date and place of birth
*Name of the music school, class of the contestant
*Name of the faculty, year of studies of the competitor
Residential address of the competitor
Contestant's phone number
Contestant's email address
The category for which the participant is applying
The name of the compositions and their duration
Along with the application, the competitor must submit:
Proof of payment of the fee for participation in the competition (in case of
cancellation of participation, the participation fee will not be refunded).
The candidate guarantees the accuracy of the data entered in the application
and that they are familiar with the rules of the competition.
ARTICLE 6
By sending the application to the competition, the candidate gives his consent
that the founder of the competition reserves the right to publish audio-visual
material and sheet music. Also, sending the Application is considered a
declaration of the authenticity of the submitted compositions.
In case it is determined that the submitted compositions are not authentic, the
candidate will be disqualified from the competition.
ARTICLE 7
The jury is made up of prominent composers, pedagogues and performers.
Prizes and diplomas are awarded in each age category based on the following
criteria:
In the I and II categories, the jury awards an unlimited number of prizes,
according to the following criteria:
I prize from 95 to 100 points
II prize from 85 to 94.99 points
III prize from 75 to 84.99 points
Praise from 65 to 74.99
In the III and IV categories, the jury awards the I, II and III prizes.
The 1st place competitor in the category wins the title of CATEGORY
LAUREATE.
Aside from the Laureate of a category the jury chooses the Laureate of
the ART COMPOSITION BY A SERBIAN AUTHOR, and they will be awarded:
The best rated compositions will be recorded, printed and performed at a
concert specially organized for the occasion at the organizer's expense. The
best rated compositions will be proposed for performance at the ZIMC
competition programs for the next year.
The jury's decision is irrevocable.
ARTICLE 8
The registration fee is for:
I category - 20 € (in dinar equivalent on the day of payment)
II category - 25 € (in dinar equivalent on the date of payment
III category – 35 € (in dinar equivalent on the day of payment)
IV category - 40 € (in dinar equivalent on the day of payment)
ARTICLE 9
By sending the application, the candidate confirms that they agree that their
data will remain in the database of the Competition, as well as that it can be used to generate reports on the Competition, ranking of competitors, statistics, etc. which, as needed by the Founder, can be published in whole or in part.
